Threads of Grace
Life is messy
Welcome to Simply Susan, where I write honestly about faith, marriage, motherhood and the everyday threads of God’s grace.
So grab a coffee.
Pull up a chair.
I’m so glad you’re here.
Walking humblythrough faith, family and life’s adventures.
Come in, come in! Have a seat around the table so we can pause, pour a coffee, and discover God’s grace woven through the threads of everyday life.
Life hasn’t always been neat and tidy, None of my ducks are in a row. Like many women, I’ve known seasons of joy, disappointment, deep hurt, and unexpected adventure. As I look back over the years, I can see the threads of God’s grace woven through every season—through joy and heartbreak, marriage and motherhood, unanswered questions, quiet faithfulness, and even the unexpected adventures of later life.

Looking back over my life, I can see a thread.
Sometimes that disappeared beneath grief.
Sometimes it seemed tangled beyond repair.
Sometimes it was woven with unexpected joy.
But through every season, God never let go of the thread.
Simply Susan is where I share honest reflections on marriage, motherhood, faith, books, coffee, being a SAHM, working outside the home, motorcycles, and the everyday moments where God’s grace quietly meets us.

Setting Up The Schedule
Want to have a peek into one of my son’s course of study? Of course you do. 🙂 I’ve included a copy of his Daily Workload sheet and his Course of Study for you to get an idea of how I schedule. Just be mindful that this is my student, with his unique strengths and…
A New Season of Learning
Ah, a change of seasons. But no, I’m not talking about the emergence of Spring. Rather, a change of season in our home, more specifically in our learning. Just like with the natural weather based seasons the calendar doesn’t force them to begin, so it is…

40 Days of Focussing On Health
Where is my head? Well it isn’t in blogging, that’s for sure! I can’t write about lessons as we’re still in a time of rest, a Sabbath rest. This means that I am not striving toward lessons or the planning of them. This is great but I…
Working out, Intensity, high points…a way of life.
Bill Phillips talks about how we should strive to hit a ‘high point’ in our workouts. That it is the intensity in which we train, not the duration. He mentions how some fitness people suggest upping your workout routines from 30min to 40 and then to 50 min…
Working out…in our homeschool.
We’re learning more about the Human Body through my latest interest than we ever could through a book! I’m starting this venture (40 Days of Focus) with my 15yodc…this child is a great help to me. However, the other children were feeling a little out…

Dehydrator
This is the dehydrator that my husband made for me. It cost approximately $60 and this was only because he used brand new racks and had to buy a light switch and light batons. I use the dehyrator to make all sorts of things including yoghurt and proving bread. FAITH ~...
Daily Rhythms : Blocks Schedule
We don’t have a set daily schedule. We don’t eat meals at specified times or have a daily to-do list. Instead we tend to work in blocks of time. In the morning, we discuss briefly what blocks of time we are doing that day and this way the children know what to expect. This is known as our daily rhythm or block scheduling.
Genesis, A Commentary for Children
Genesis, A Commentary for Children is part of the Herein is Love series by Nancy E. Ganz. And I really like it! 🙂 Yes, this is a Bible commentary on the whole book of Genesis, From Paradise to Promised Land - Genesis to Joshua, written to children but it isn't dumbed...
