He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?  ~Micah 6:8

Threads of Grace

Life is messy

Welcome to Simply Susan, where I write honestly about faith, marriage, motherhood and the everyday threads of God’s grace.

So grab a coffee.
Pull up a chair.
I’m so glad you’re here.

Walking humblythrough faith, family and life’s adventures.

Come in, come in! Have a seat around the table so we can pause, pour a coffee, and discover God’s grace woven through the threads of everyday life.

Life hasn’t always been neat and tidy, None of my ducks are in a row. Like many women, I’ve known seasons of joy, disappointment, deep hurt, and unexpected adventure. As I look back over the years, I can see the threads of God’s grace woven through every season—through joy and heartbreak, marriage and motherhood, unanswered questions, quiet faithfulness, and even the unexpected adventures of later life.

Looking back over my life, I can see a thread.

Sometimes that disappeared beneath grief.

Sometimes it seemed tangled beyond repair.

Sometimes it was woven with unexpected joy.

But through every season, God never let go of the thread.

Simply Susan is where I share honest reflections on marriage, motherhood, faith, books, coffee, being a SAHM, working outside the home, motorcycles, and the everyday moments where God’s grace quietly meets us.

Faith

Receiving Christ

There is a difference between hearing about, believing in Christ and receiving Him. Only those who receive Him become God’s children. Jesus is the only way to God. What does it mean to receive Jesus? “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God…” John 1:12

Bearing Witness of Christ

He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light. John was merely the forerunner who announced the coming Messiah. Like John, we bear witness to the light but it is Christ in us which shines! Everyone that sees us – sees a few gleams of the true Light.

We Argued Over Fireproof

I’m probably the last Christian in Australia to see the movie but finally… I watched it! Fireproof, that is. Funny story with it though. I had told Miss A that I wanted to watch it one day when it came out on DVD. So, for an anniversary (in late June) present she…

Stories or Opinions

Stories are relational, opinions are more like facts. Grace and truth are conveyed through stories. Stories have characters, actions and outcomes which all takes time to be played out. They are intricately woven and allow the listener to make their own rich connections. Stories communicate much, although it’s not always so easy to find the ‘moral’ of the story, if there is indeed one moral to be learned.

Homemade Cashew Milk

Regular readers and friends will know about my search for a dairy milk replacement that I can tolerate. I can’t stand Almond Milk unless it is combined with coconut milk but even then I don’t really like it, I just manage to tolerate it. So I kept…
